There are many day visits available to the tourist from anywhere on the island.  One such popular resort is the town of ‘Soller’ on the northern coast.  It boasts a charming fishing village and a harbour popular with private yachts.  It is set in a valley at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range.

Its narrow streets are cobbled in the traditional way, with many imposing houses built in a modern style by their owners.  It is within easy reach of Palma, the train being a popular way of reaching this quaint area.  Part of its appeal has to be the frequent tram service that runs through the streets.  This is so popular, in peak season it can be difficult to get a seat, but standing (hold on tightly!) is allowed.

Renowned for its local orange blossom in April, there is a fascinating ‘Orange Blossom Express’ train ride available that chugs its way through the orange and lemon groves as it climbs the mountains.  This is a very popular trip with tourists, so be sure to book it with your resort rep to be sure of a place.

Nightlife is relaxed and mainly consists of bars and restaurants around the town square.  The tram can take visitors to the local beach set in the bay of Puerto Soller.
