Majorca’s beaches
Around the Island’s coastline you will find many secluded and pretty, unspoilt beaches. They vary from the small deserted coves, usually only accessible by boat or a long walk, to the large white sandy beaches in the tourist centres with their restaurants, bars, shops and a variety of water sports (scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, speed boats, wind surfing, kite surfing) available. They are reknown for their high quality of cleanliness and many Blue Flags have been awarded. Most beaches on the Island use a flag system to show how safe it is to go swimming – green flags indicate no danger, yellow flags indicate to take care and red indicate that it is dangerous and you should not enter the water at all. You may want to consider which beaches to visit depending upon the weather – it can be poor with a northerly wind in the north, however the south can be fine.
