Alcanada
(Platja de l'Alcanada)
This peaceful beach is located on the north east coast of the Island at
Cap des Pinar headland about 3.5 km from Puerto Alcudia and is protected by
Puig de sa Madona, which is about 150 m high. It consists of 700 m of natural pebbles, stones and boulders with some
seaweed and sand. If you want to escape
from the crowds then this small quiet bay is the place to go. It is ideal for swimming as it slopes gently
down into the calm and clear sea and it is bordered by a pine forest. There is a lighthouse on the nearby Island of
Alcanada which can be reached by swimming or walking to it and a 17th century
fortress called Torre Major to fight off pirate attacks. It is an area where jet skis are used and there
is a lack of facilities available.
