Calo Fort
This
beach, or as it is otherwise known Caló Fort o Caló de Can Mercadal, is located between Calonet de s'Almadrava and
Punta de ses Punxes about 15 kilometres from Llucmajor on the south east coast
of Mallorca. It is mostly used by the
local residents from around the area and is about 30 metres long and 20 metres
wide, becoming crowded at weekends and there are no facilities. It has a gentle
slope into the fairly shallow water but there is limited space for children to
play, and is an excellent place for diving and snorkelling. It is at the mouth of a torrent which has
caused a u-shaped sea entrance, in a rocky area, bordered by medium to high
cliffs, pine trees and residences. This
part of the coast is wide open so anchoring a boat may be a little difficult if
there are winds from the southwest to the north.
