Palma beaches
Palma is
the major city, port and capital of the Island of Mallorca and it is known for
its culture, shopping and history. It is
situated on the Bay of Palma, a large coastal bay, in the western Meditteranean
Sea, on the southern coast of the Island. To the south there are marinas and rocky inlets, with the majority of
the tourist resorts are on the east side of the city. The international airport is just 8 km from
the centre. There are plenty of beaches
in the area, many of which can be reached by a short journey either by car or
by bus. Just ten miles from Palma is
Marineland which is an ideal place to visit with children as there are dolphin
and sea lion shows, a small zoo, a children’s play area, as well as a picnic
area. Two well known beaches in the area
are Cala Major to the west and Playa de Palma to the east.
