Cala Major
This beach
is located in the centre of the resort of Cala Mayor, about 4 kilometres west of
Palma on the southern coast of the Island of Mallorca and is protected from the
cold northerly winds. It is about 200
metres long and 80 metres wide, bordered by tourist hotels and has recently
been rejuvenated with fine golden sand to improve the beach, and palm trees
have been planted. The water is crystal
clear with great views of the Bay of Palma, suitable for young children and the
beach can become crowded during the peak summer months. There is a promenade where you will find plenty
of bars, restaurants, shops, with life guards, first aid, toilets and showers,
and there are opportunities to hire sun beds, parasols and pedal boats. There are bus stops next to the beach and is
easily accessible by foot, car and there is direct wheel chair access.
