Santanyi’s beaches
Santanyí has 35 kilometres of wonderful coast line
along the south east coast of the Island of Mallorca and it is about 55
kilometres from the international airport at Palma. It has some beautiful beaches, a natural
protected area, Mondrago Natural Parc, and some wonderful bays, which are
sheltered from the wind and have clear turquoise water and fine sandy beaches. In one of the bays there are some boathouses that belong to fishermen and an underwater
cave for qualified divers. The coastal
districts include Cala d’Or (famous for its architecture and the low white
buildings), Cala Santanyi (a collecting
place for artists), Cala Esmeralda, Cala Llombards, Cala Mondrago (a national park area), Cala
Llonga (a modern yacht marina in a natural harbour), Cala de s’Almunia and Cala Figuera ( a
traditional fishing village and scenic harbour). There are also a large number of
archaeological sites which you can visit.
