Cala s'Almunia / S'Almunia
This
beach, in a bay with crystal clear water which is excellent for diving and
snorkelling, is about 9 kilometres from
Santanyi on the south east coast of the Island of Mallorca. It is about 30 metres long and 10 metres wide
and is an attractive platform of rocks where you can sunbathe, and is mostly
used by the local people of the area, sometimes used by nudists. It is surrounded by trees and rocks with some
modest huts and houses built in the traditional Mallorcan style which were used
by the local fishermen to store their boats and tackle but nowadays they have
been converted into holiday homes. To gain access to this beach you need to use
a long stone staircase which can be rather steep. There are no facilities on the beach so you
must ensure that you take plenty of water with you.
