Ses Salines Beaches
Ses Salines, the name means “salt”, is a
municipality in the south east corner on the Island of Mallorca, about thirty
kilometres to the east of the international airport, San Son Joan, in the
capital of the Island Palma. It is named
after the salt lakes and marshes and is known for its wildlife in an area known
for its rural and scenic interests, including many species of flora and fauna. Many of the beaches in the area are
completely unspoilt, and the coastline is rocky and flat with large areas of
fine white sands that slope gently down into the blue sea. There is a rural feeling about this part of
the island where you will see old windmill towers which were used to grind the
wheat, defence towers to protect from pirate attacks and family homes which
have been constructed in the traditional Mallorcan way.
