Cala Vinas

Cala Viñas adjoins the more boisterous and noisy resorts of Magalluf and Palma Nova. Away from the central areas, however, more peaceful enclaves can be found including Torrenova and spreading up to Cala Viñas

Location: On the SW coast, at the extreme W end of huge, 15½-ml Palma Bay, merging with the smaller resort of Palma Nova. 10½ mls SW of Palma; 16½ mls from the airport.
Position: Overlooking the wide bay and Magalluf Beach, the quiet, hilly suburb of Cala Viñas lies to the S of Magalluf.

The nearest decent beach is at Magalluf and is the largest on the S side of the island. It is broad and deep, with fine white sand, though it is still capable of overcrowding. It's safe to swim here; the currents are not too strong and the waters fairly shallow; lifeguards are present from May to Oct. Some areas have lines of sun loungers and sun umbrellas, water sports and boat trips (including a trip to small Porrassa Island). There is a small sand beach in an attractive cove in Cala Vinas
