Hotel Club Cala d'Or Gardens

A slightly quirky and colourful establishment with some arty touches throughout. Facilities are slightly bland but spacious and the grounds, although offering two good pools, are slightly tired-looking.

In an excellent location for the beach and local amenities are around the corner, although nowhere near the centre of Cala d’Or, so transport would be required.

Should appeal to both families and couples here wanting an unelaborate, peaceful base, near a beach and who are happy to take transport to the livelier centre, with its shops and better choice of beaches.

Exterior

A unique entrance area with water cascading down the glass panels outside the building and mosaic tiling. The accommodation consists of 10 white-painted buildings with good-sized verandas which are attractively finished in blue, orange, black, green, yellow or red painted woodwork. All rooms have balconies.

Interior

A large, spacious lobby with some interesting and colourful decor features. Accessed in the grounds is a pastel-coloured buffet restaurant with smart wooden furnishings. Opposite is the bar with games, a stage and sliding glass doors to exterior seating.

Grounds

Between the wings of the main buildings are spacious grounds with plenty of palm trees, cactii and shrubs. A split-level pool terrace hosts two good-sized pools and water jets. On a raised platform is an entertainment stage with plastic chairs and tables in front. There is adequate space for sunbeds around both pools.

Area Type: Just off a small bay and sandy beach, in the outer resort area of Cala Egos with a few other hotel properties and lots of white, low-rise residential accommodation. A good selection of tourist shops, bars and restaurants are a short distance along the main street. In the same area, a short walk away, is a taxi rank and bus stop to the capital Palma and other local towns. 1 1/2 miles to the resort centre.
