Hotel d'Or Tobago

A comfortable relaxed choice which offers plenty of indoor space, albeit with a 1970s decor. The pool area is a little small for the number of guests but the proximity of the great, sandy Son Maties beach just yards away compensates.

The sedate atmosphere attracts mature couples although it is suitable for all ages in the summer when it offers some entertainment for children. Well-located for the many lively bars and restaurants in this part of the resort and the main nightlife strip of the neighbouring Magaluf.

An imposing, tall, wide building with colourful facade tiling and a 5-storey block adjoining at right angles. All rooms have recessed balconies.

Interior

The interior is spacious, with a decor rooted in the 1970s. The large chequer-floored lobby boasts a few incongruous Eastern statues and a featureless lounge and television room leads off.

A roomy, yellow-hued, wicker-furnished bar with a stage and sectioned seating area is on the lower ground floor and opens to the pool terrace. An unremarkable buffet restaurant also looks out to the pool.

Grounds

A stone-tiled pool terrace is just above the side street to the front and has a water feature statue to one side of the pool in a rocky garden section. A little space for sunbeds but the majority of the pool surround is occupied by plastic tables and chairs. More room for sunbeds is found on a small raised sundeck. A few large trees surround the grounds. Disabled access to the pool.

Location

Area Type: In a hilly, built-up area on the Torrenova headland of the resort with many other tourist hotels, apartments and residences. On a tree-lined side street. A wide choice of lively bars, shops and eateries are found along the nearby streets. Choice of two beaches in this area and an easy walk to the main nightlife strip in Magaluf which borders this part of the town. Buses and taxis are easily found down the hill on one of the main streets. Opposite a parade of minimarkets and bars and across the street from the beach.
